COVID-19 Rumor Detection
Built supervised NLP classifiers to distinguish true vs false COVID-19 tweets using a manually labeled Twitter dataset (Cheng & Wang, 2021). The study addresses the rapid spread of pandemic misinformation that undermined public health responses, highlighting the importance of reliable, content-based rumor detection during crisis situations
Porter Hypothesis: Environmental Regulation & Productivity
Empirical panel-data analysis of 33 OECD countries (1990–2021) testing the weak and narrow Porter Hypothesis, finding that stricter and market-based environmental regulations increase innovation measured by R&D expenditure and patent activity.
TikTok Opinion Classifier
Built a machine learning text classification model in Python on synthetic TikTok-style data as part of the Google Advanced Data Analytics program to analyze and categorize user opinions.
Social Network Analysis of COVID-19 Discourse on Twitter
Analyzed the structure and evolution of COVID-19 Twitter networks using over 900k tweets, comparing information flows around the WHO pandemic declaration in 2020 and one year later, and finding denser, more connected subtopic clusters over time, especially in economic and loss-related discussions.
Migration and Labor Supply of Left-Behind Spouses
Econometric analysis using TVSEP panel data from Thailand and Vietnam showing that household migration increases labor force participation of left-behind spouses while reducing self-employment and unemployment, with effects reversing after the migrant returns, particularly in poor rural households.
Quasi/Natural Experiments in Python (DiD & IV Examples)
A practical Python reference with example code and library suggestions for implementing difference-in-differences and instrumental variables, aimed at users who already know the theory from tools like Stata or EViews.
